If you see it, it's on. You wouldn't see it at all if RT wasn't enabled.
I was having lots of problems with xruns until I dug into this website:

It's chock-full of tuning goodness.
One thing that may be problematic is the fact that the vast majority of
notebooks out there have onboard audio that is pretty damn horrid. You
may find, for example, that the interface is locked at 48k, or that it
must share an IRQ with the ethernet port, making things that much more
problematic. YMMV.
