This is interesting. Could you send me the version of, say, libraw1394
that you are using? I don't see any packages in kwizart for f8 that look
like fixes for firewire...

Do, for example:

  yum list|grep 1394

I'm guessing the issues with the juju stack have been addressed... maybe
there's even something in the non-juju specific patches for Fedora that
actually break the normal firewire stack. Sigh...
