yumex can help with that.

yum install yumex

When you run yumex it provides views for:
        packages to update
        packages to install
        packages to remove
        queued packages
        repositories
        output (runtime messages)

You can selectively queue packages from the first 3 views.

Then process the queue.

If errors occur, you can delete packages from the queue based on the
output messages and process the queue again.
