If you are sending track 1-4 out card 1 and track 5-8 out card 2, if
they don't use the same clock, they will be out of sync.<br>
How much it is noticeable to humans is another factor. If the piece is
long, then the drift will reach a threshold at which people will start
noticing the issue.<br>
Well, you have to test this to be sure. I am pretty sure that the latency between the loudspeakers caused by their physical distance and speed of sound in air is larger than what the difference caused by the soubndcard crystal tolerance is during normal playback of songs less than several hours long.Therefore sync is not really an issue in playback.
