Hello George,
I'm currently using the edge-smp kernel with the Nvidia driver (using a
GeForce 6600 too). This is roughly what I did to get it working, after
installing FC5 and the CCRMA edge package:
1. Download the nivida installer (the latest one it's here:
http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-8762/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run
)
2. In a console, as root install the kernel headers with:
yum install kernel-smp-devel-2.6.16-1.2080.13.rrt.rhfc5.ccrma-smp-i686
(replace VERSION with the right number)
3. Again using yum install the package:
yum install xorg-x11-server-sdk
4. Edit the xorg.conf file with:
gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and in the section where it says Section "Device" change
Driver "nv"
for
Driver "nvidia"
save and close the file.
5. Restart X or reboot. It will complain about an error but answer "no"
to everything until you get back to a login console. After login in as
root, go to the folder where you have the
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run file.
6. Execute the command:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run
--kernel-source-path=/usr/src/kernels/KERNELVER replace the KERNELVER
with the right one, you can find the right name for the folder with a
ls /usr/src/kernels
7. Follow the instructions and if everything goes ok, then just reboot
and you should be done!
Hope this helps, if something is not clear please let me know. I don't
know about TwinView because I don't have two monitors for testing it.
