[PlanetCCRMA] Re: From zero to DAW in 2 hours !

After I finished loading the sound fonts I did init 6 and hey presto I
get the Kernel panic - not syncing error.

I loaded up FC4 (NOT ccrma) and I tried to load up ROsegarden. It hangs
my machine, I had to do a reset to reboot it.

I then booted up FC4 ccrma and tried to run Rosegarden 4 and I get the
same thing happening.

Rosegarden is the main tool that I want to use.

What next David?

David,

I have done a complete reinstall and then installed the ccrma stuff.

Here is a txt file with what I did and the messages that I got.

I installed the soundfonts as well and that seems to be going ok.

Can you see any errors there?

Tell ya what...

This time, just do a VERY basic FC4 install only.
Let's make sure FC4 is behaving properly on it's on first.

So, just have auto partitioning.... don't select "selinux".
.. everything just very generic.

When that's done, start the GUI, but don't change to KDE
for now... just do an "init 6" and see if you get that same
error. Hopefully you'll reboot just fine.

Log in again, and only upgrade the FC4 stuff first:
rpm -Uvh
http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/apt/rpms/apt-0.5.15cnc6-4.rhfc4.cc
rma.i386.rpm
rpm --import
http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/RPM-GPG-KEY.planetccrma.txt
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

STOP there... send me the output... let's make sure it all went ok.

David
