Hmm... JUST installing the audioapps (as opposed to audio/video) should not
cause any problems, of course... I just wanna make sure I know what you might
and might not have going on over there.

getting a Kernel Panic from init 6 is a very bad sign.
I have no idea what that could be from... do you possibly
have bad RAM? Perhaps a copy of your history will reveal
something? I know the errors during the ccrma install
were not normal.... could be causing these other issues.
I'm on the verge of saying "wipe it" again... making sure
to NOT select selinux, and starting off with a smaller
package set, and also starting off with the internal card
disabled.... just to make sure those things didn't mess
something up.

Before you installed, there is an option to "check media".
Did you check each disk first? -- maybe some package(s)
are corrupt?

I think I would stay away from KDE until we get it running
just to be safe.... I think KDE likes to start the aRts sound
server, and I'm not sure it plays nice with jack/alsa, but
I'm not an expert on that (or really anything.. heh)

I guess right now (unless your history shows you typed
something bad), I'm most worried that you have bad RAM
or possibly a corrupt package on the install CDs.

It's okay to "start" the install... do the check on the media,
and then reboot.... it won't actually overwrite anything at
that point. Might be worth the effort to check.
