I'm trying to run Planet CCRMA FC4 on a new dell precision m70 laptop. I
think the hard disk is slow, and hdparm isn't helping. Here is some
command output. Any help would be a wonder.

bash> sudo hdparm /dev/sda

 IO_support   =  0 (default 16-bit)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    = 256 (on)
 geometry     = 9729/255/63, sectors = 80026361856, start = 0
(Mon Sep 19 00:22:22)
bash> sudo hdparm -c 3 /dev/sda

 setting 32-bit IO_support flag to 3
 HDIO_SET_32BIT failed: Invalid argument
 IO_support   =  0 (default 16-bit)
