[PlanetCCRMA] Odd Jamin/Ardour/Qjackctl behavior

I'm running an up-to-date fc1+Planet CCRMA system.

If,
    (1) I start qjackctl
    (2) start ardour
    (3) start jamin
Even with everything disconnected, I get 500-1000 xruns per minute, and 
a machine so bogged down I have trouble exiting any of these apps (or 
anything else).

If instead,
    (1) I start jamin, and let jamin start qjackctl
    (2) start ardour
    (3) connect everything appropriately
It all works, with only the single initial xrun.

In both cases, the qjackctl settings are identical.
Can anyone explain this?
