[PlanetCCRMA] using yum instead of apt-get?

ahoy ahoy.

  ive been looking through the doc and mail archives but i cannot find a
clear answer to this pretty simple question:

can yum be used instead of apt-get to install and update ccrma?

  i know apt-get is similar to yum, but im no linux expert and i have some
positive experience with yum.  i guess the real issue is if the
repositories that yum and apt-get use are the same or compatible?  perhaps
someone can recommend one over the other?

  thanks to everyone who puts this together..  you are doing a nice thing
for linux and cash strapped musicians!
