What is it that happens when you try to run them? Strange, I would have
imagined that they would not mind running on a different window manager.

Kudzu is trying to do that? And if you tell it to go ahead and configure
things for it it tries again on the next boot? Is this for a usb
soundcard? What does lspci say about your hardware?

Or you could disable kudzu (if you are not going to change your hardware
configuration often - "/sbin/chkconfig kudzu off")
