Well, I decided to see if it would make a difference with fftw3, and I get:

[root@resistance root]# apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Calculating Upgrade... Done
The following packages have been kept back
   fftw3
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 removed and 1 not upgraded.
