[PlanetCCRMA] full duplex recording, Audacity

Hi,

I use Audacity on Red Hat Linux 9 with the Planet CCRMA kernel and alsa 
drivers.
When I play a track while recording a new one, like when I'm overdubbing a 
vocal track to backing music, the track that is being played has a lot of 
crackles and pops for the first thirty seconds or so, then it goes away.  The 
recording turn out fine but the crackles and pops are very distracting.  Does 
anyone know how to solve this problem?
Both Audacity and Planet CCRMA have been working very well in general.
