[PlanetCCRMA] kernel 2.26 50% chance

I installed the 1.25 kernel yesterday and it only boots 50% of the time (2 
out of 4) the other times (nos 1 & 3) I saw a bunch of errors from 
modprobe, than some problems with hda and it got stuck at the checking new 
hardware phase (I guess they are linked). I had to reset manually and than 
it boots fine. Since it never managed to actually boot I don't see a 
record of the errors in the log. 
any clues how to track the problem?
