Two weeks are almost the time of the last qjackctl release (0.2.9), where
some callback event handling has been rewritten. However I don't have a
definite impression as that could be related. But, who knows :)

Have you, by any change, upgraded your xfree dri/drm drivers? It has been
noted elsewhere that this thing is a pain for keeping low-latency,
specially on the ati radeon oem drivers. Again, don't take my words for
granted as I don't even have this experience.
