[PlanetCCRMA] problems with jack ?

Olaf,
There was a post by Jesse Chappel on the Jack-Devel list last night. It
would apply to you if you use reiserfs for your main system drive. If so,
you might look at that thread. It has to do with problems created by
reiserfs when flushing it's journal and how this creates xruns in Jack. He
had an interesting solution which involved mounting a ram based file system.
He gave some instructions on how to do it.

Other than that and the fluxbox idea, I'm sort of short on ideas right
now...

And try fluxbox. It's fast, easy, and you might even like it! ;-) I'm
using it on my new Gentoo setup and it's quite nice not to be assaulted by a
desktop full of icons out of control! ;-)

Good luck,
Mark
