[PlanetCCRMA] Some suggestions, please.

I have the need to record an audio signal from a sound board on to my computer running redhat 9.  This will eventually be burned to CD or to tape.  The computer is a PII 300 mHz with 384 megs of ram (I am considering adding another 256), the sound card is a Forte Media FM801.

Here's what I have done so far:

Installed apt using the instructions on the ccrma website.
Used apt-get update, then apt-get install synaptic.
