[PlanetCCRMA] more kernel compilation woes

Hi,
It seems many people seem to be having trouble with the kernel on RH9.
I've been trying to recompile the planet-ccrma kernel for about a week
now, and am still having some trouble.
To make a long story short, I had planet-ccrma installed on RH8, I
upgraded to RH9 and many things didn't work. I ended up replacing my
sources.list with the RH9 one from the planet-ccrma site, rebooted in an
older kernel, did apt-get update/upgrade and re-installed the packages I
needed. Success.
However, the sources to the kernel don't seem to work. I tried
recompiling them several times, but it always stops at make bzImage with
some acpi files missing. Looks like I'm not the only one who had that
problem. Is it possible that there are essential files missing?
Since I couldn't compile that kernel, I decided to build a brand new
2.4.20 kernel with the low-latency and preemptive patches. I managed to
successfully compile them and install them. However, I can't seem to
boot from that kernel, I get a kernel panic.
If anyone's got ideas on those two problems, I'd love to know. Also if
others are having similar problems, let me know, maybe we can benefit
from each other's experiences.
