[PlanetCCRMA] problems with apt-get

hello,
since yesterday i have problems with apt-get (or rpm). most of the time
it stucks in the middle of the install process:
[root at a7 cvs]# apt-get install cvs
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following NEW packages will be installed:
cvs
0 packages upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 removed and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 1128kB of archives.
After unpacking 2778kB of additional disk space will be used.
Get:1 http://freesoftware.ircam.fr redhat/8.0/en/i386/updates cvs

at this point nothing happens, rpm or apt-get doesn't exit. i'm running 8.0.
p.s.: apt-get is much slower than on debian. is this normal?
