Esteemed CCRMA PhD students (and Dr. Abel):

As you are aware, Sunday’s flood rendered Knoll 207 uninhabitable, forcing us to deallocate the desks of Vidya, Celeste, Mark, Camille, Scott, and Mike.

We are looking to find alternate work spaces for everybody affected. (Mark is already using the desk in the Max Lab.)

Our next step will be to make some changes in the 3rd floor “PhD” (and Abel) work area (# 305):

1. Remove the big old desks whose height doesn’t adjust (not sit/stand) and that don’t fit that well. (Leaving only Lloyd’s relatively new sit/stand desk)

2. Replace them with the six newer, smaller, height-adjustable desks from 207. (Then maybe in a couple months when 207 is ready again we get similar ones for there…)

3. Some of the “refugees” will temporarily borrow Lloyd’s and Luna’s desks in 305 while they’re out of town in the coming weeks.

4. At least one, preferably two of the refugees can take empty/new desks in 305

5. Once 305 is refurnished and the new desks are allocated, move in as many Linux Workstation towers, video monitors, QWERTY keyboards, etc., as desired (from the ones that used to be in 207).

6. Then the rest of the equipment from 207 can go into storage during reconstruction.

7. Possibly as soon as Monday (March 20) all of 207 needs to be empty for the construction crew.

We plan to do this (at least 1-5) on Thursday from 11am until done (maybe 2?), including lunch on us for any of you who help.

If you have any concerns with this plan please let me know.

-Matt
