Virtual APCAM 2020 Call for Abstracts

		DATE:

You are receiving this message because you are on the APCAM mailing
list. If you do not wish to receive future communications, please email
lgetz at sandiego.edu to be removed from the list.

You are receiving this message as a recent contributor to the annual
AUDITORY PERCEPTION, COGNITION, AND ACTION MEETING (APCAM), which is now
entering its nineteenth year. We appreciate your involvement in this
meeting, and we would like to invite you to contribute your work to
APCAM 2020, which will occur on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH, 2020.

_Although originally scheduled to take place in Austin, Texas, USA,
APCAM 2020 will now be A VIRTUAL MEETING that will take place ENTIRELY
ONLINE. _Information regarding preparation and presentation of online
talks and posters, and how to participate in the online meeting, will be
posted on the APCS webpage (https://apcsociety.org [4]) as it becomes
available.

The GOAL OF APCAM is to bring together researchers from various
theoretical perspectives to present focused research on auditory
cognition, perception, and aurally guided action. To support this,
APCAM's Organizing Committee welcomes EMPIRICAL (BEHAVIORAL AND
NEUROSCIENTIFIC), THEORETICAL, AND/OR METHODOLOGICAL ABSTRACT
SUBMISSIONS on a variety of auditory topics, including but not limited
to the following areas:

· Auditory memory and imagery

· Auditory scene analysis; object, event, and pattern perception

· Aurally guided action and navigation

· Comparative auditory processing

· Cross-modal correspondences and multisensory integration

· Healthy vs. disordered hearing and hearing loss

· Language learning, processing, and development

· Sound localization, source identification, and motion perception

· Music perception, cognition, and performance

· Pitch, loudness, and timbre perception

· Speech perception and production

· Temporal processing, timing, and attention

Submissions should include an ABSTRACT OF 300 WORDS OR LESS, the TITLE
of the proposed presentation, NAMES AND AFFILIATIONS for all
contributing authors as they should appear in the conference program,
and E-MAIL contact information for the primary/submitting author. Each
submission also should indicate whether there is a PREFERENCE FOR AN
ORAL OR POSTER PRESENTATION. The committee will make every effort to
accommodate presentation preferences, though it may not be possible to
honor all requests. If there are more accepted abstracts with an oral
presentation preference than there are available presentation slots,
preference will be given to papers judged to represent the strongest
contributions, as well as to participants who did not deliver an oral
presentation at APCAM 2019.

Additionally, the Organizing Committee welcomes proposals representing
either a cluster of 3-4 RELATED ABSTRACTS or a (45- to 60-minute) PANEL
DISCUSSION on a unified topic. Related abstracts should be submitted
separately, along with a separate abstract (also 300 words or less) from
the proposal's coordinating author. Proposals for panel discussions only
require this latter type of abstract. The abstract from the coordinating
author should indicate the motivation for, and the nature of, the
proposed session, including a brief overview of the fundamental issues
that it hopes to address. A list of contributing authors for the session
also should be provided, along with a brief statement about what each
author will discuss. Preference will be given to proposed sessions that
cut across research domains and that have important theoretical
implications and/or practical applications.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND PROGRAM PROPOSALS IS
SEPTEMBER 28, 2020. All abstracts should be submitted online by
following the "Submit an Abstract" link on the APCAM tab of the APCS
website (https://apcsociety.org/apcam-submit.html [5]). APCAM's
submission deadline has always been close to the conference date, which
is made possible by the fact that authors are notified about the status
of their submission rapidly (usually within 2-3 weeks).

To support the mission of APCS, _AP&C_ and APCAM, there will be a $30
FEE FOR APCAM conference registration again this year (*waived for
undergraduate students). This fee will serve as your ANNUAL DUES TO
APCS; the membership will cover APCAM program materials, provide you
with an individual subscription to _AP&C_ for the following year, permit
you to access reduced open-access publication fees for _AP&C_, and allow
you to take part in member discussions about all three entities at the
conference. Additionally, the editors of _AP&C_ will invite work to be
submitted for considered publication in the journal within a special
issue that highlights high quality research presented at APCAM.
Invitations will be extended based upon outstanding abstracts and
presentations throughout the day at the meeting. Both empirical and
theoretical work will be considered. For additional information about
the journal or the special issue, contact the editors at hallmd at jmu.edu
and/or mike.russell at washburn.edu. For more details about APCS
Membership, see: https://apcsociety.org/membership.html [6].

AS ALWAYS, YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO INVITE ANY OTHER COLLEAGUES YOU THINK
MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING APCAM. WE LOOK FORWARD TO RECEIVING
YOUR SUBMISSIONS!

Sincerely,

Timothy Hubbard
