[CM] grace midi ubuntu [timidity] ...

hi

i'm trying to use grace to generate some midi data. when looking at
the scheme midi out tutorial, i get errors when trying to send the
midi data to timidity.

when i run these commands:
(ports)
(send "mp:open" :out 6)
(send "mp:midi" 0 .5 60 .5 0)


i get this:

and [unsurprisingly], i don't get audio when running audio -> midi out
-> test output.

for those that don't know, timidity is a software midi emulator, among
other things. perhaps i need some hardware to make this work correctly
... ? i also have a USB interface [and even brought up some virtual
interfaces too], which you can see in the 'ports' listing.
