[CM] cm 3 crashes on startup

Ok this issue is now  fixed in the latest sndlib tarball thanks to  
some really hairy debugging by Bill.  I am able to build cm and grace  
with and just  ran some examples successfully. if you notice anything  
that used to work but is not working please let me know.
