[CM] multichannel with osx-10.2-snd thru motu828

Hi all,
I have installed osx-10.2-snd on OSX(10.2.8) and it works.
But I can't play 4-channel file with it thru motu828mkII.
It sounds only mono or stereo,
even if I chose motu as output device at System Preferences.
Sould I set an environment variable in shell to choose the device?
And how?
