wierdness compiling cmn

I recently recompiled CMN in akcl on a NeXT, and actually read some of the messsages.  Although CMN seems to work properly, I noticed that gazonk0.o was compiled over and over again, and usually 6 times in a row at any given time.  I did a file name search, and it's not in the cmn, pcl, akcl, or kcl directories.  Does anybody know what this file is and why it is recompiled so many times?

I also noticed that the cmn image takes up roughly 16MB.  Is it really supposed to be that large?
